A person who treats another with fairness, generosity, courtesy. . . . Definition of the word sportsman*
One value we all appreciate and want to live by in our lives is fairness. No matter if our hair is short or long, if we speak softly or with gusto, we want to be treated fairly. Team Fairness is what works! The photo above invites us to wonder how did this team achieve the look of delight in a job well done and a strong sense of comfort in working together? What led to the team being chosen for the photo shoot? What didn’t work within their team and how did they work through that challenge? What did they learn in the process?
Some 18 months ago, I had a discussion with a Recruiter. The subject was how to achieve harmony and fairness within a team environment. What do you think about this question? What does the team environment look like to you that provides you with a sense of harmony and fairness ? How often do you participate in setting boundaries of time — for promptness, for discussion or for updates? Why does responsibility in your team matter to you? What type of team environment gives you a sense of pride?
I would appreciate hearing what works best for you within your team. What causes conflict that may stop the process for you as a team member? What should other team members know about you that they don’t already? How has Team Fairness been achieved in your Team? I ask these questions because at the end of May, Coaches around the world will be participating in International Coaching Week 2013. If there is a subject you would like me to discuss in this blog about Team Fairness or any other career issue, please send me a comment. I am happy to prepare a number of blogs for you during International Coaching Week 2013. Have a great team experience this week!
